God has held the people of Faith in his hands for many years and through many changes. The history of Faith starts in the early 1800s with a Methodist minister named Rev. John Clingan. He held services in several homes in northern Richland County and in a log cabin on the Nathaniel Osbun farm, which we now know as Dayspring. By 1820, this small church group was known as Milton Methodist of the West Windsor circuit. It was called Milton because it was located in Milton Township.
As this small group of believers grew, in 1834, a new Methodist class was organized in the Haverfield School House on the road north of Dayspring. At that time there was no Weller Township and this area was part of Franklin Township so it was called Franklin School. By 1836 Henry Newman deeded one acre of land for the building of a Methodist church. When Weller Township was formed the name of the church remained as Franklin. A frame church was built on the present site of Faith United Methodist Church in 1852.

In 1839 Joseph Curtis, a lay preacher, donated the land on the corner of Robinson Road and Pavonia West Road for a church as well. A boxlike structure was built from logs and lumber donated by members and the cemetery was plotted. In 1875 this building was moved toward the village of Pavonia and used as a town hall. Later it was moved again where it now remains as part of the residence at 2715 North Pavonia Road. A new white frame church was then erected in its place. This church was known as the Milton Methodist Episcopal Church of the Pavonia Circuit along with Olivesburg, Rome, and Franklin.
